all the people who write those posts that are like “make sure you always always support your mentally ill person in your life” or “list of ways to help a mentally ill person in your life” have obviously never lived with or had to deal with a chronically mentally ill/substance abuser every single day. it’s goddam hard to constantly support and help a person like that when they’re literally doing nothing to try and be better. it starts affecting you and you can’t support them forever you have to put yourself first sometimes
maybe i should hit up that guy i met from a band this summer, see if he’ll want me again. offer to fly me anywhere again. be the older man in my life again
